Meet Tango ADOPTED!

** Available in the Ottawa area only***

Tango

This cutie is approximately 5.5 months old and around 30 pounds. But he's still a growing boy and will be a medium-large sized dog. He is a Catahoula mix as best we can see. The camera doesn't do this handsome boy's freckles justice.
Tango is a very happy and busy puppy. He is very social and loves meeting new people and dogs.

This dude loves spending time outside and rolling around in the yard. He loves chasing toys but doesn't quite have the hang of bringing them back yet. He is very good about his crate and is just about fully potty trained if you get him outside often enough.

He needs plenty of daily exercise (age appropriate). He is good with other dogs, but will need continued socialization to new dogs over the next few months so he remain comfortable and learn more dog-dog language.

Tango

Tango is a smart cookie and has learned to sit and also learned to lie down in a day. His foster is working on more basic training, but he (and his future owner) would greatly benefit from an obedience class. He is very food motivated and eager to learn.

He is in a chewing phase and still needs more supervision (as a typical puppy would!)

Tango received his third round of vaccinations on October 3rd and will be neutered shortly. He is also microchipped.

Meet Misty ADOPTED!

Misty

Misty is a stunning blue Merle Catahoula Mix? Aussie mix? (we are not sure!) with a cracked eye (her right eye is half blue half brown). Misty is a petite girl, at around 40lbs, and she is approximately 4-5 years of age. She still has plenty of energy, but is well past the troublesome puppy stages.

What a catch! She is fully house trained, well-mannered, and knows many basic commands, including sit, down, wait, free, back up, leave it, go to your bed, go potty, and she would be keen to learn more. She is very good on leash, and will walk with a loose leash except when she sees other dogs (she gets excited and may pull, whine, etc). She loves her crate and happily relaxes there! She is very smart, responsive to training, and would love to learn more new things to keep her mind busy.

Misty is very affectionate. She likes to cuddle, give lots of kisses and she will even curl up on your lap if you let her. She has the happiest butt wiggles when you pet her and talk to her! She is also friendly with strangers and enjoys meeting new people.

Misty is an active, agile girl and will need daily exercise. She loves going for walks and playing in the yard. She would make a good jogging partner as well. She does need supervision in the yard and adequate exercise, as she has been known to escape yards in the past when bored and unsupervised. She can leap 3 ft in the air, and turn on a dime! She may do very well with dog sports or other fun activities.

Misty

Misty is pretty quiet overall, but she does alert bark to let you know if someone is at the door or walking by the yard. However, she settles quickly once you thank her for doing her job!

This sweetheart lived in a home with a baby (0-17 months) and did very well. She adjusted well to the arrival of the baby, and loved licking the baby’s face. She was very tolerant and respectful.

She does not guard her toys or her food bowl from people or other dogs.

Misty has also shared her home with other dogs and is friendly with them. She is currently being fostered with two other dogs, and would be fine to either join a home with another dog, or be an only dog. She has had a few play dates with various dogs and done wonderfully. She is best in a cat-free home, as she finds them to be too much fun to chase.

Misty can be timid at times, and will benefit from ongoing confidence building. As an example, the odd thing will scare her and cause her to cower (a statue, the ceiling fan, a broom), but she recovers quickly.

If you are looking for a smart, affectionate, and active gal, than Misty may be the girl for you! She will thrive in a home that offers mental and physical stimulation, lots of cuddles and plenty of affection.

Misty is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative) and microchipped.

Meet Gordie ADOPTED!

Gordie

This handsome gent is approximately 7 years old and is a real gem. He is at a wonderful age where he is respectful and calm, but still active enough to keep up with long walks, and has spurts of playful silliness. He even tried some biking with his foster mom. But at the end of the day (or walk), he is very happy to just chill in the house and cuddle.

Gordie is living happily with two other dogs. He has been to the dog park, where he likes to have a quick play with the other dogs, then comes back when called.

Gordie

Gordie rides well in the car, and does OK home alone when you go to work too. He has not met cats, nor spent time with children since he has been in our care. Gordie has a couple lumps and bumps (that did not concern our vet), and he needed ear medication when he first arrived, but otherwise he has a clean bill of health.

If you are looking for a loyal companion look no further, Gordie is it!

Gordie is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and microchipped.

To apply to adopt Gordie, please complete the adoption application form. For more information on Gordie or any of our other dogs available for adoption, please contact catahoulaontario@gmail.com

Meet Duckie ADOPTED!

DuckieDuckie is a petite Redbone Coonhound with a big personality. She may be mixed with another breed -- a few people have guessed Doxie, but we're not sure. She is just about 45lbs, with a gorgeous red coat that feels like velvet. She is approx 3 years old, and a wiggly, happy, lovebug!

This girl brings the party wherever she goes! She has lots to do, and lots to say!

What a hoot! She loves other dogs, and loves to play. She can hold her own in a playful wrestle, but is very submissive if there is any conflict. She would do best with either another playful dog in the house, or regular visits to a fenced dog park, as she has lots of energy to burn and loves to play.

She is affectionate with people, including when she meets new people. She has met children when out and about and enjoyed their attention, but is not currently living with kids. She does still do some jumping and occasionally mouthing, so young children may be intimidated.

She would need to be cat tested before joining a home with feline friends.

True to her breed, she has an impressive set of lungs, and she does like to bay. However, she is quickly learning to use her voice more sparingly, and to use her "inside voice" around the house. She is very smart, and very trainable.

Although she does have some hound stubbornness (I prefer persistence!), she is also very eager to please and she is food motivated. She is fully housetrained, working towards crate trained, and rides well in the car.

Duckie is very good at sharing her toys with her foster-siblings, and she does not guard her food bowl from people to other dogs.

Duckie

Duckie is just such a fun-loving, and spunky dog! She is so sweet, that everyone who meets her is quite taken by her. Her photos don't do justice to her gorgeous red coat, it is quite stunning.

A single family home is required to adopt Duckie, and a fenced area to play would be a huge plus (either a fenced yard, or regular trips to a fenced dog park, as she is very social).

Duckie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative) and microchipped.
