Meet Hooch ADOPTED!

hooch 1

Hooch is a sweet, small, young male Catahoula mix, about 1.5 years old. He has a gorgeous red merle coat. He is a gentle, quiet, easy going guy, that would just like to visit the dog park then snooze at your feet.

Hooch likes to be near his foster mom and dad and follows them around the house. Hooch isn't a big fan of the snow and cold – as soon as he goes outside, he sits at the door and waits to come back inside! Although that being said, he does enjoy his walks in the snow. His on-leash manners are quite good – he needs some training, but he doesn't pull and is easily corrected. He responds to his name and knows “Come” - he'll run from one end of the house to the other when he's called. He's learning “Sit” and is catching on quickly. He's crate trained, just needs a little encouragement to go in. He's not at all possessive of his food dish, and takes his treats gently. He hardly squirmed at all when his foster mom clipped his nails.

Overall, Hooch is a sweet & friendly boy who just wants someone to love him and help him live up to his potential to be a great dog and companion.  Could he be the boy for you?

Meet Hawkney ADOPTED!

Hawkney is a young adult Aussie mix. He is the softest, sweetest boy in town!

He is currently living with one other dog, and could happily live with one or more other playmates. He loves having someone around, human or another dog, and is very affectionate. He is great on a leash and super-quiet around the house. He would be suitable for living in an apartment with an active owner.

Hawkney is fully housetrained and has not been doing any destructive chewing in his foster home. He loves playing with and chewing on toys though, especially antlers.

Hawkney has had some basic training (sit, come, etc), but he is still VERY excited when you break out the treat bag and tends to lose focus. He would love to work on his commands with you, and maybe even do a basic obedience class to brush up on his skills.

To apply to adopt Hawkney, please complete the adoption application form. For more information on Hawkney or any of our other dogs available for adoption, please contact catahoulaontario@gmail.com

Meet Jynxie!

Jynxie is 6 years old and weighs about 70 lbs. He is a Catahoula mix and we think that he has a bit of Boxer in him… the rest is a mystery. He has a striking white stripe down his back that makes him look quite dapper :-) He’s not hyper, but he does still need a fair bit of running every day to spend his energy. In our fenced yard he would run and play chase games with the other dogs every chance he got. He loves all people and is very friendly and goofy. He is very affectionate and loves to lean on us, and he also thinks he should be a lap dog. He has agreed to compromise by just putting his head on our knees and he loves to spend part of the evening looking lovingly into our eyes and getting his ears and forehead properly mushed up :-)

Jynxie would do best in a home with another dog - he has lived with numerous foster dogs and loved them all. He also lived with cats in his previous home. He is an extremely sweet and good boy. He wants to please and is food motivated. He learns easily with positive methods, is house trained and trustworthy loose in the house while his humans are gone (with some minor dog proofing). He loves to play with the spray of a garden hose; loves squeaky toys, rawhides, bones, and getting food out of food dispensing toys like Kongs. He loves to go in the car, but it sometimes makes him drool so we limited food when we knew we’d have a good drive ahead of us.

Jynxie would love a home where he could play with his human and doggie family in a fenced backyard, go for walks, maybe to a fenced dog park every now and then. He would also be a natural companion for a moderate jogger or cyclist, and would probably love things like skijoring – he adores being outside and loves winter and snow.
