Meet Jynxie (again) ADOPTED!

Jynxie is 7 years old and weighs about 70 lbs. He is a Catahoula mix and we think that he has a bit of Boxer in him… the rest is a mystery. He has a striking white stripe down his back that makes him look quite dapper :-) He’s not hyper, but he does still need a fair bit of running every day to spend his energy. In our fenced yard he would run and play chase games with the other dogs every chance he got. He loves all people and is very friendly and goofy. He is very affectionate and loves to lean on us, and he also thinks he should be a lap dog. He has agreed to compromise by just putting his head on our knees and he loves to spend part of the evening looking lovingly into our eyes and getting his ears and forehead properly mushed up :-)

Jynxie would do best in a home with another dog - he has lived with numerous foster dogs and loved them all. He also lived with cats in his previous home. He is an extremely sweet and good boy. He wants to please and is food motivated. He learns easily with positive methods, is house trained and trustworthy loose in the house while his humans are gone (with some minor dog proofing). He loves to play with the spray of a garden hose; loves squeaky toys, rawhides, bones, and getting food out of food dispensing toys like Kongs. He loves to go in the car, but it sometimes makes him drool so we limited food when we knew we’d have a good drive ahead of us.

Jynxie would love a home where he could play with his human and doggie family in a fenced backyard, go for walks, maybe to a fenced dog park every now and then. He would also be a natural companion for a moderate jogger or cyclist, and would probably love things like skijoring – he adores being outside and loves winter and snow.

Jynxie is neutered, up to date on all his shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Meet Fred ADOPTED!

Fred is an approximately 1-2 year old Beagle-Boston Terrier mix (our best guess!). He is a housetrained, medium size pup, weighing around 30 pounds.

In his own words…

Hello everyone, my name is Fred and I love to snuggle. I spend my days with my foster brother and sister who keep me entertained with our games of tag. We share well and play great together. I also have a foster cat and two little humans (2 and 4) whom I love and am very respectful of.

I am extremely curious about all this new stuff to me. I like to investigate every nook and cranny of my foster house. I am very curious about food and love to see what you are having for dinner.

I love my big backyard and all the fun stuff there is to do outside. I only bark when something really exciting happens (like the turkeys come to visit).

I am young and I am still learning. I am working on some commands like sit and off. I am also getting used to the den thing they call a "crate". My recall is not that great so I would need much more work before going off leash. I think I would benefit from some puppy school or obedience training, and I have the potential for doggy sports if anyone is interested.

As his foster mom, I am amazed at just how sweet and gentle Fred is. For such a young dog to be so aware of his body, this calm, and this respectful, he is only going to be more amazing as he matures. He will make a wonderful addition to any family and will reward you with love and devotion.

Fredd is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative), and is microchipped.

Meet Lotus ADOPTED!

lotus 3

Lotus is a happy 4 year old Shi Tzu mix who loves to cuddle and wants all your attention. She likes to chase and catch her small Kong toy, likes to chew her nylabone and will pick up and carry whatever is handy when she’s happy you are home.

Lotus is crated during the day and doesn’t soil her crate. She had some challenges when she first came to foster, but they are all behind her. She has been given a clean bill of health and hasn’t had any accidents in the house in over a week. She just needs you to recognize that her excited attention seeking is probably because she needs to go outside.

Lotus lives with her foster’s two other big dogs. She tries to be bossy with them, but is learning that her forward style is not always welcome. She showed moderate respectful interest when meeting a neighbourhood cat. She approached and sat when the cat seemed stressed, and we easily moved on after a moment. She may do well with a dog-friendly cat and proper introductions.

She wants to meet every person and dog she sees on her walks and shows no fear of any of them. She does a very excited vocal “purring”f you restrain her. Lotus’s recall is not as strong as her adventurous nature, so off-leash play should be in a secure fenced area.

She has settled into the routines in her foster home, she eats her food with gusto and is very food motivated. She knows sit and lie down and will take a little treat gently if you help her to focus by sitting first. She does want all the food, so leaving any food unattended is not wise.

She will bark when someone comes to the door and when first crated, but otherwise she is a quiet little dog that would do well in a home that can provide her with guidance around food and lots of love.

Lotus is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and microchipped.
