Meet Rosaleen ADOPTED!

Rosie tlt 2

I'm a new girl to Ottawa, which is a long way from where I come from! You see, I was a living in a rural county on top of a trash heap. Well, living is far from what I was doing – when they found me, I was not doing well at all. The angels must have been with me, because they took me away from that dreaded place. I was fed, had shelter, and people to walk with me every day. They even helped my fur grow back (which will come in quite handy in Ottawa winters!)

It has been quite a journey, and I am so glad to be here! To be honest, because I am not used to them, I can be leery in new situations. You see, I had been alone for so long with no one to spend time with, so new people and city sounds scare me! My foster mom says I have come a long way though! I enjoy walks a LOT, but need time to acclimate to new surroundings. I need you to be patient with me and just give me time.

Foster Mom says I can be such a contradiction, whatever that is BOL! I need slow introductions to people and dogs because I don't know them. Mom says I do well with my foster brothers and two of my foster sisters because they don't push me. I get scared when I don't know how to respond because it's all so new to me, but I am eager to learn!

Foster Mom says I am so beautiful with my new coat, but says that my spirit is the prettiest. I love to cuddle, play with toys, EAT, and take nice naps on soft beds and couches! I like my den – my mom calls it a crate, but to me it is my safe space that is clean and all my own. I do not like to share because I never learned how to. I’m working on it, but it's really hard because I never ever had these things and I don't want to lose them. I love to give my paw for attention.  When I have to go pottie or just need some attention, I will sit as close to your face as I can! I want to make sure you see me because I felt so invisible for so long, but NOT ANYMORE! I know how to sit, lay down, give paw, and come whenever I am called!

I look forward to growing as a doggie should, and making new friends with people who have the patience to help me! I sure would appreciate your prayers and patience!

All my love,
Sweet Rosaleen
AKA RoseBud to my foster Mom!

Meet Henry ADOPTED!

*Henry is currently adoptable to Ottawa area homes only because he will require his last round of vaccines and his neuter surgery at our vet (at our cost). He has been microchipped*

henry

Bonjour, I'm Henry, the international dog of love. I also go by Henri or Enrique or Heinrich, depending on my mood. I'm a 4-5 month old chubby bundle of fur – good thing too, it's cold out there! But I don't mind it too much. I'm probably a Shepherd/Husky mix, so I'm pretty well equipped for cold Canadian winters.

I came from the pound in Plantagenet, and I don't really remember anything from before that. But that's OK, because my life now is pretty awesome! I have a warm home and three meals a day (plus treats!) and there are four other doggie brothers and sisters to play with. Which is great, because they're helping me learn how to be a good member of the pack. I love food and will do anything for a treat. Well, so far “anything” is Sit and Come, but I'm just starting out – I'm sure I'll be able to do all the things you want to teach me, 'cause I'm pretty smart. I've just about got the hang of doing my business outside. I still have an accident in the house now and then, but I'm a puppy and that's what we do :-)

On New Year's Day, my foster mom and dad brought me to a party, and my foster mom said I was a superstar. I met lots of new people, and they all picked me up and gave me hugs – I really liked that! Somebody even tried to kidnap me, but I didn't fit under her coat. I made a new doggie friend, and I met a cat who I thought was kind of boring, and I went to a barn and saw horses and donkeys. They kinda freaked me out a bit because they were WAY bigger than me and they smelled funny. But I was as brave as I could be and walked over to see them with my foster mom. I didn't get too close because I was feeling a bit shy, but if I have another chance to meet them, I think I would be braver.

I like playing outside in the snow and chewing on my toys, and sometimes I like to just run and jump around for no reason. Well, other than because it's fun! I don't spend too much time in my crate, but it's not a bad place to be and sometimes I go into it just because I feel like it. I'm pretty quiet, and only bark when there's a reason to. Like when everyone else barks – I don't want to be left out! I usually stick close to my foster mom and dad – I'll lie at their feet when they're watching TV, or on the kitchen floor when they're cooking. They also let me sleep on the sofa if I feel like it. Yep, I'm spoiled!

So that's a bit about me. Now it's your turn – tell me a bit about you, and maybe it'll turn out that we were made for each other!

Ciao!
Henry

Meet Otis ADOPTED!

Otis - Available in Ottawa area only*Otis is currently adoptable to Ottawa area homes only because he will require his last round of vaccines and his neuter surgery at our vet (at our cost).*

Otis is an adorable Boxer mix between three and four months old (as of Jan1 2014). This boy lives to play!

Otis is adored by his foster family, both two legged and four legged. He is doing very well with house training - he still has the odd accident, but is now tapping on the door to go out. Otis spent a few weeks living with kids and absolutely adored them.

He has lots of energy, so he would sure love to have another playful dog in the house. He currently lives with 3 other boxers that are teaching him the ropes - he does best with a dog that keep him in line, and of course play play play! He is not tested with cats. We are still working on Otis' crate training - he goes in no problem but will wine for a bit once left alone. He knows sit command and the word cookie.

With the right amount of exercise and attention he deserves, Otis will be an amazing dog. He is handsome, smart and brave. His foster family has only had him a short time, and they already know they will have a very hard time parting with him. If you have the time and space for this sweet little man, he will definitely melt your heart.

Meet Moose ADOPTED!

image

Moose is a very handsome man that found himself in a local pound and very, very skinny. We are still confused as to how he must have gotten there since he is such a lovely boy. The vet thinks Moose is between 1 and 2. We think he is a Boxer mix, possibly a Boxer-Great Dane mix.

Moose is fully house trained and happy in his crate during the work day. He knows some basic commands and likes to show off his shake a paw (more like a high 5, actually!).

Moose needs daily exercise and would like to be part of a household where he has regular walks each day and a chance to run and play. But once you are inside, is most happy by your side, doing whatever it is you want to do. He is very sweet and loving, playful, he loves to be petted, and he is a very happy and enthusiastic guy.

Moose can be enthusiastic at times - when it is time for a walk or you get home he is just bouncy and squirmy so he has been working on sitting and waiting while he gets his collar and jacket on, as well as when he is coming and going from the house. Sometimes when he has some pent up energy he will try to mouth your sleeves and jump up a bit, but he means no harm and responds well to consistent correction/redirection.

image

Moose LOVES other dogs and will need some time being socialized so that he is not so excited when he meets them. He settled in with his foster brother, Jackson, once Jackson set the household boundaries - once they were clear, Moose showed good social skills (and some pretty awesome play moves!). Moose might benefit from a training class where he has to learn to focus while in the presence of other dogs. He can be quite strong on a leash when meeting new dogs, but otherwise his leash skills are coming along.

We have not tested Moose with cats or kids, but generally he is intelligent, respectful of the unknown, and responds to correction. With respect to kids, I don`t think there would be any concern except with respect to bumping into small children when he is excited.

Overall Moose is a lovely dog with all of the right pieces already. In order for him to thrive, he will just need regular exercise, the stability of a forever home and some consistent small corrections day to day as he learns the finer details of being a someone's forever dog.

Moose is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative), and will be microchipped prior to adoption.
