Meet Cutter ADOPTED!

image Hi I'm Cutter! I am about 8 months old. I’m a fun loving, goofy, all around nice guy - just a big puppy. My foster brother and sisters think I'm great to play with, heck even the cats don't mind me (much)!

I never have accidents in the house or my crate and I've learnt "sit", I'm still working on "down" and the rest of those words my foster parents use. I'm also working on learning my manners. My foster parents are still trying to get me used to walking on a leash beside them. I have to admit though that I am very afraid of cars and loud noises. When I hear loud, sudden noises or there are too many cars I just want to run and hide so you'll have to be patient with me and give me time to feel comfortable with that stuff.

I come pretty quickly when called and I love to play with balls (but I'm still learning to share). Oh and I love water! I love love love to play in the water and go swimming! I generally like all people but I am happiest if you approach me slowly and give me a chance to sniff you (I wouldn't snap... I am just a bit shy). Sometimes my foster mom say's I get a bit carried away when I am excited and having fun playing. I get mixed up sometimes and don't remember that I need to play differently with people so sometimes I "puppy mouth". It's not biting, it's not hard but my mom and dad think I'm better off with older kids right now.

cutter

My foster mom thinks I'm a total sweetheart and would make a wonderful family pet! She say's I am kind and respectful towards the other dogs and cats that live here too. But, I am young and I am BIG and I am still learning, so I need people who are kind and patient and are willing to work with me and give me time to adjust.

Love,

Cutter

Meet Linus ADOPTED!

axl sitting

Hello friend, my Mom calls my Linus because I love to carry my blankie around in my mouth. She says I give the best snuggles in the house. That says a lot, there are 4 dogs currently in my pack. I am not the Alpha and that's okay by me, I like to listen because then Mom tells me I’m a good boy and gives my extra kisses on my nose.

I play really nicely with the two-legged puppies here and Mom lets me sleep with the girl puppy – she’s the one with the little chewies all over her floor. But, I never touch her chewies, that would be rude. Okay, maybe sometimes I bring them to Mom as a present but I never chew them, I like the kisses on my nose too much.

At night, Mom lets me watch TV on her bed. I love the bright lights and the sounds the TV makes. I snuggle really close to her head and give good hugs so she lets me stay. Mom says I have boney elbows so I try and not stick them too far into her chest, I just don’t want to share her all the time.

Dad is a cool dude and I like to follow him around. He’s always doing something and sometimes he lets me watch. I like to watch Dad so I sit really quietly and still so he doesn’t trip over me, but I always move carefully when I’m in the way.

Mom likes to be in the kitchen and shares little treats while she cooks. That’s my favourite time of the day. She has a really cooshy mat right under her feet, I like to lie quietly there and wait for stuff that falls off the counter. I don’t jump up or things don’t fall down. Don’t tell Mom I figured that one out or she’ll stop dropping things.

axl standing

We live on a really busy road, I get to spend all day looking out the window and watching all the cars go by. We don’t do much walking on the busy road, instead we play as a pack in the backyard. When Mom and the two-legged puppies come home, the puppies come outside and throw the ball. That’s the best. I always bring it back and drop it nicely so they throw it again. The ball is my favourite toy. I’m really good at bringing it back.

I like to tell you stories and am getting much better at telling them with my inside voice. In my last houses I had to use my voice a lot because they couldn’t always hear my stories and my voice was very sore and broken when I came here. But it has healed so nicely and now it’s much stronger. Mom tells Dad I don’t use it so much anymore because I am so loved and they are great at knowing when I need to go play or when I am hungry. She’s so right – Dad says that Mom is always right.

Mom says she’s never sending a write-up to CRO because she says no one will be good enough for me, then Dad gave her a look. I don’t know what a write-up is, but Mom must think I’m something pretty great if a write-up means I have to go somewhere else. I really like it here with a family who loves me, lets me sleep on the bed and lets me play a lot. Mom says I’m a really good boy and she’s not quite sure why I’m still looking for a home. I fit so nice here, but 4 dogs in a house is a lot of dogs and Mom says I need a house with maybe only 1 other dog so I can get lots love and attention because I deserve it she says. If I can’t have Mom, Dad and the Puppies forever, maybe I can find another home that will love me like this. Do you think that you could love me this much?

Love,

Linus

Meet Ozzy ADOPTED!

PLEASE NOTE: Ozzy needs a foster for foster-to-adopt home and has some medical issues

Ozzy - needs a Foster or foster-to-adopt (medical needs)

Oh Hello, pleased to meet you. My name is Ozzy (they call me Oz). Some people ask me if I'm a black bear, but I'm pretty sure I'm a Newfoundland mix (possibly mixed with Lab -- get it, Newfoudland & Labrador?). I'm around 3-4 years old and just about 100lbs. My foster mom calls me a teddy bear and says I always have a smile on my face. Of course I'm smiling - I love everything about life! Especially the little things. The smell of grass, the sun on my coat, watching the birds, belly rubs and ear scratches... I wish every day were a nice relaxing Sunday morning!

My only complaint in life is that my darn hips are sore. I have severe hip dysplasia and my back end is just not quite right. To be honest, I don't seem to notice that much, as I get around just fine and it doesn't slow me down much. Because of my medical needs, I'm looking for a longer term hospice home or a foster to adopt arrangement. You see, these nice rescue people want to get my medical issues under control before I'm adopted out, and they say they're really not sure what lies ahead for me. I probably need physio, so I need someone that can commit to working with me daily and get me into physical shape. If I end up needing surgery, I will need someone home with me while I recover, and someone that is very committed to making sure I stay off my feet.

Ozzy - needs a Foster or foster-to-adopt (medical needs)

I am very comfortable in the company of dogs - all dogs are great potential pals! I play a little, but mostly I like to just spend time with my canine and human friends. I must admit though, I'm living with a Great Pyr puppy right now, and could do without a pup jumping on me. I LOVE the outdoors and would spend all day outside if I could.

I think I'd do just fine with cats and children, but so far I haven't really met that many. I am a bit shy when meeting men. When I met my current foster dad, I peered at him around the corner, and dashed away when he looked at me. Then it occurred to me that he would probably scratch my head if I came close, so I did, and hey, it worked!! Then he rubbed my belly and I knew we were friends. Now I see he meant no harm at all *blush*.

I'm well behaved and clean (housetrained) in my home. I'm not really used to leash walks, so I do still pull on leash, but am getting the hang of it quickly. I can't do long walks yet (that's ok - more time for relaxing!), and no flights of stairs for me. Sure, I can do a few steps up to your door, that's no problem, silly!

What do you say, is your heart and home big enough for a teddy bear like me? I'll return the favour by making you smile everyday, I hear smiles like mine are contagious!

Love,

Ozzy

Meet Ruby ADOPTED!

Ruby

Ruby is a 5 to 6 month old Blue Merle Catahoula Mix. This little girl will be sure to steal your heart! Ruby is a little unsure with any new situation, but quickly gains confidence with praise and reassurance. She is very smart and a fast learner and looks to her human for direction eagerly. As she is food motivated, she will be easy to train. She is currently attending puppy classes and she makes it look easy for all of the other puppy in attendance!

Ruby currently lives with a Great Dane, Chihuahuas, and a few cats. She is great with all of the dogs. She loves playing with the Dane, and she will often wear him out. Ruby is very curious about the cats and will try to play with them, but she will not chase them.

Ruby

Ruby will need to learn some leash manners, as everything right now is new to her and must be investigated. We are working on her potty training and she is approximately 90% trained. She is wonderful in her crate and does not bark. She sleeps silently in it at night, and will only whine when she needs to go outside to go potty.

If you love a dog that loves to cuddle, then Ruby is your gal. She loves nothing better than to snuggle up to you on the couch or in your lap. Beware though! You may have sloppy puppy kisses given to you!

Ruby is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative), and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Meet Tobias ADOPTED!

tobias 1 Hello, my name is Tobias. My foster mom calls me Toby or T Bone for short. I am a small Catahoula mix, weighing in at only 32lbs. The vet says I'm about a year old, so I guess this is as big as I'll get, but that's ok. My Momma tells me good things come in small packages.

I currently live in Bowmanville, ON where I have a foster brother and sister who are much bigger than me, but I can hold my ground and I enjoy wrestling with my big brother as well as my foster parents. I made my journey all the way from Kentucky, where I was abandoned as a stray. Don't know why they abandoned me, I only wanna be loved. I do my best to please my human. I am soft and gentle, and even sometimes get a little scared. I am house trained, but when I get scared, I may pee a little. I'm sorry, I don't do it on purpose. Please don't yell at me. I don't know how to react when you're angry, so I just lay on my back, frightened. Are you mad? Please don't be mad...

My foster Mom and Dad take great care of me now. Man, this is the life! Who knew how great being a dog could really be! They love me, bathe me, and feed me good food. Already I can tell how much softer and shinier my coat is. Thanks, Mom! I love going to the dog park. Everyone there likes me too! I get so much attention, and everyone says how cute I am. Don't you think I'm cute? Momma says my chocolate brown eyes are going to melt the hearts of my new family one day.

I recognize my new name now, and will come from across the dog park when Mom calls. She's so happy when I listen. Sometimes I even get treats when I do as she asks. It helps build my confidence. I think I'm getting the hang of this. I'm very curious, and like to explore new territories. Sometimes I find a kid's toy and think it's mine, but I'd much rather chew on a bone or an antler anyways. I like to play tug with my foster family, and love snuggling on Mom's lap, too.

As the smallest of my pack, I stand on my hind legs to see above everyone, and hope that Mom sees me first. But she doesn't seem to like this, and I don't get my cookie till I sit. I have to sit when she puts the leash on, too. It's hard when I'm just so excited to go for a walk. I like the car rides, too.

tobias 2

My big brother is sometimes a little to pushy for me and steps on me a lot, so Mom lets me ride up front with her. I love being close to her. I've met some of the kids in the neighborhood too. Everyone seems to like me. I like them too. It's fun getting so much attention. But when Mom and Dad have to go to work, I sit quietly in my crate and sleep until they come home again. When they return, I get so excited that sometimes I pee a little. I'm sorry, please don't be mad. I'm trying to work on this. I promise I'll make it up to you with unconditional love and kisses. Mom loves my puppy kisses. It makes her giggle and laugh.

Do you like puppy kisses? Are you looking for a gentle young boy like myself to join your family? Cause I know as good as I've got it here in Bowmanville, there is a fur-ever family out there waiting for me, Mom says so. And I believe her. After all, what have you got if you don't have hope, right? I hope to be meeting you soon!

Love,

Tobias

Tobias is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative), and will be microchipped prior to adoption.
