Meet Vinnie ADOPTED!

Vinnie is a playful 3 year old Catahoula/Shepherd cross.

Vinnie knows all the standard commands (sit, down, kennel, stay - although his attention span for this one is short at times) and is learning some tricks.  Vinnie is house trained and crate trained.

Vinnie is used to living with cats, other dogs, and young children and has displayed very few issues.

One of Vinnie's favorite things to do is play fetch with other dogs.  Vinnie doesn't play fetch in a conventional way though.  Vinnie likes to grab onto whatever the other dogs are trying to bring back (he loves kong wuba's) and take it away from the humans causing the other dogs to work twice as hard to bring it back.

Vinnie is very good on leash and rarely pulls. However, much of his experience is off leash as he has a strong recall.  Vinnie also has experience pulling a wagon with a harness on as a strategy to deal with his high energy level.  Vinnie enjoys working for his meal by pulling something or by following commands.

Vinnie is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

Meet Cane ADOPTED!

IMPORTANT: Cane has been enrolled in a free training program at Forever Friends in Ottawa. Therefore, he is only available to local applicants until mid-September. If he is adopted before the end of the program, his adopters MUST commit to continuing to bring him to weekly classes.

Hi, I’m Cane. My sister Chloe and I were abandoned when we were five weeks old. Luckily, some pretty awesome people rescued all of us, and now Chloe and I are living the good life with our foster mom & dad and our doggie brothers and sister till our forever families take us home.

I’m ten weeks old and my favourite thing to do is EXPLORE. And I like to climb stuff – I guess I’m a bit of an adventurer that way. I figured out how to climb out of my x-pen, but every time I get out, my foster mom or dad puts me back in. I also love to play and wrestle with my sister Chloe and my big foster brother Gizmo. And I think I might like to swim – I always have fun playing in the water in my wading pool, and I swam a little but in a lake once. It was fun :-)

I know you’ve probably already fallen in love with my cute puppy face – I mean really, how could you not?! But before you fall too in love with me, you should know that I’m Catahoula through and through. And that means I’ll need plenty of physical and mental exercise to keep me happy. And you’ll have to take me to obedience class to so I can learn all the things I need to know to be the best dog I can be.

It would be super-helpful to read this information about Catahoulas so you’ll know what to expect if you adopt me. Don’t get me wrong – I’m a fun & adventurous guy, but you’ll have to keep an eye on me to make sure I don’t try to dig a hole to China!

Gotta go do some exploring – talk to you later!

Meet Charmaine ADOPTED!

Hi my name is Charmaine, Charm for short. I’m an approximately 4.5 month old Hound/Catahoula mix (we think maybe coon hound). I’m not very heavy, but in the last week I’ve started to gain more weight. My foster Mom and Dad think I’m really cute - but I knew that already! ;-)

I am very smart and have started to learn hand signals as well as voice commands for sit, down, and come. I have a big foster sister who helps me. I am doing very well with my house training and when I have to go, I go to the door to go out.

My foster sister and I love playing together - our favourite game is tug. I also have a foster kitty brother who I love. I share very well with my foster sister when it comes to food and toys.

I love to cuddle and I have a very soft coat. I like walks, but I am still learning to heel properly. I will need more time to practice. When it’s bed time, I go to my kennel without a fuss and sleep through the night.

Charmaine

Charmaine is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

To apply to adopt Charmaine, please complete the adoption application form. For more information on Charmaine or any of our other dogs available for adoption, please contact catahoulaontario@gmail.com

Meet Ranger ADOPTED!

Ranger 1 Hi there - I'm Ranger!  I'm a about 6 months old and my foster parents think I am a Beauceron/German Shepherd mix. They say it doesn't really matter what I am because I'm just an all round fun loving, cuddle bug. (But, just between you and me, they think I'll be a big boy when I grow up.) My foster mom's always saying I'm such a handsome young man, with such lovely markings, perky ears, and gentle eyes.

So, what can I tell you about me? Oh, ok, you want to know how I get along with other dogs and cats? Great!  Yup, I live with 3 other dogs and 2 cats right now. I am always playing with my big sis (a Catahoula). We play tug-o-war, and Frisbee (she's teaching me to catch), and catch me catch me (I like that best). I am very respectful of my oldest brother and sister and know how to give them space when they ask for it too. Me and the cats are learning how to get along with each other – I want to play with them, but they're not so sure about me, so mostly we just ignore each other.
I don't need to be the center of attention. Sometimes, I just like to lie quietly at mom's feet while she's busy on the computer. I just snuggle up and take a nap. When mom and dad go out, they put me in my crate – I  don't really like it and I complain for the first few minutes, but then I just settle down and go to sleep. I love love love going for rides in the car!  OMG it's so much fun and my foster parents say I'm such an angel in the car too – I like it so much I just settle right down and enjoy!

I go to doggy daycare once a week where I get to meet new dogs and I just love it! They told my foster mom and dad that I play nicely and get along well with others too.  I'm pretty much house trained, but yeah I have had  accidents now and then, I'm still learning how to tell mom and dad that it's time for me to go out. Oh yeah, I think I like water! I have this cool splash pool in my yard that I put my toys in and splash around in to stay cool when it's hot out.

Ranger 2
My mom and dad are pretty impressed that I know my name and come when they call me too! I can sit and I know down, we're working on stay and my manners. I am up to date on all my shots, and I've been neutered too. I've got a microchip too so if I ever get lost I can be easily found again (I like that!).

All in all, I guess I'm just a happy little guy. I'm still learning, but I do learn quickly. I'm a good cuddler and am willing to take a chance on you if you're willing to take a chance on me.
